These things have electricity running through them, not torque. Although we like gears and mechanical things, we've found room for improvement in this stuff out there, so we took care of that.
Starting in 1994, the factory started using electronic speedos on some of the models. Today, all models use this. If you are changing the transmission pulley, rear wheel pulley, rear tire or installing one of our transmissions, you will need a recal box. You can dial it in dead-nuts after you install it in-line to your existing wiring harness. Not required for Sportster and Buell if you re-use the existing 5th gear.
Everyday we talk to customers who are building radical customs or upgrading existing bikes; people like to tell us about their projects and we like to listen. We learn things. We learned that most of the performance starters out there have notorious durability problems and that they are manufactured with rebuilt (used) cores and sold as new. We also learned that the O.E. Harley starter is durable but lacks cranking power, so we decided to get involved.
Our new Firestarters are the most powerful starters available and durable from the first start. Each unit is tested on a dynamometer for proper function and has an individual dyno sheet to validate the output. Units typically dyno at 2.3±.1 kilowatts; that’s 3 horsepower for us English speaking folks. Show chrome finished with a polished end cap.
Available as a conventional remote start button type or as a manual push button type for those who want the clean minimalist look.
