We the transmission masters, the Drivetrain Authority they say. Aside from raising the quality, adding gears and overdrive, putting the drive right or left, we make them this forward, backward, neutral first, etc... The transmission is our domain!
The design principles that made our Six-Speed Overdrive shift so smooth were applied to create a shift drum/pillow block kit that will bolt on to any 5-speed and give super smooth and precise shifting. The pillow blocks included with the kit are machined from our 6061-T6 extrusion stock for a significant increase in strength over stock. The roller shift drum features the same enhancements as the replacement 5-speed drum shown, as well as a revised detent profile for roller compatibility.

Our 5-speed drum is a direct replacement for all existing stock H-D 5-speeds, but features improvements for smoother shifting. The geometry of the fork pin grooves has been designed for smoother shifting. Rotating inertia has been lowered by removing the unneeded material from the barrel of the drum. Lower inertia translates to lower shift efforts.
The N1 Shift Drums have a 0-down all-up shifting pattern, and eliminates any possibility of catching neutral on aggressive 1-2 shifts. Neutral is below 1st. The N1 drum is also popular with handshifting bikes where finding neutral without doubt or error is critical to safety or riding/looking smooth.
for 6-SpeeD: Only available for BAKER OD6 applications. The N1 Shift Drum only is required if you purchased your BAKER Six-Speed after June, 2000. For units purchased prior to that date you need to purchase the N171-6 Shift Kit. N181-6 comes with the bearing installed into the female end of the drum. N171-6
comes with drum, 6061-T6 pillow blocks, and torsion-spring-loaded detent system.
Reverse pattern drum kits change the shift pattern to a 1-up, 4-down sequence shifting. This reverse pattern drum kit comes with a drum, 6061-T6 pillow blocks, and the torsion-springloaded roller detent shift system. By tapping down on the shift lever (instead of pulling up), you can accelerate up through the gears quicker, especially if you are running forward controls.
